GIVE BACK

to Our Community

“I enjoy the great outdoors, spending time with my family, and doing anything to help my patients! It’s a great day when I get to see them in the community as well.” – Dr. Jeff Just

The Just Scholarship Program

The Just Orthodontics Scholarship is a non-renewable scholarship awarded to a graduating Senior that was a past patient at Just Orthodontics who is planning to enroll in a technical college or 4 -year university/college. Applicants must write an essay of 500 words or less about how their smile has changed their life. We are committed to helping students with their education, we believe that a beautiful smile and a good education go hand-in-hand for a lifetime of success.

Youth Apprenticeship

High school Juniors and Seniors have the chance to gain exposure and experience in fields of work they are interested through Youth Apprenticeship. These students work side by side with our staff, completing tasks and teaching them about the field of orthodontics.

Youth apprenticeship opens doors for students by giving them a chance to “try out” a potential career interest while allowing them to experience an adult working environment. We are fortunate to guide and train our future dental community.

Taking On Bullying with EOB

Community service is a cornerstone of the Just family and Dr. Just has carried this torch forward through the generations. Because of this strong community focus, when the issue of bullying was raised in conversation in the spring of 2013, a nerve was struck. The spark that that conversation ignited turned into “EOB”, a short film about the problem of bullying.

Filmed by a professional production company during the summer of 2013, featuring over 80 local actors, and shot entirely in Manitowoc, “EOB” is the fictional story of Elizabeth Octavia Baxter, the young victim of extremely harsh bullying.

According to Dr. Just, “The reason we did it is because we see the problem every single day. Children come into our practice each day unwilling to smile because they are embarrassed and teased daily. We see the amazing transformation orthodontic treatment has on a child’s self-confidence and the perception of themselves yet we feel helpless in addressing the real problem – the bully. Attached to the smile is a human being, still in pain.”

EOB is a story that kids can relate to no matter where they are. This was a goal for Dr. Jeff Just when he set out to make the film. He says, “Kids all over America face these issues and we want to help anyone who’s in crisis. We’re dedicated to making a difference within our own community and the community beyond.”

Project Linus

Project Linus is a non-profit organization that provides homemade blankets to children in need.

In the Fall of 2011, Just Orthodontics started the collection event ‘ Snuggle with a Smile’. Working with referring dental offices and several area businesses, we have donated over 4,500 blankets (2011-2016; update number?) with the help of our patients, friends and community members. These blankets are given to children across the U.S.A. but many remain in our communities, the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and Camp Odyain, a heart camp for children with congenital heart defects.
